Strategies To Win Brawl Stars Smash And Grab Mode
Brawl Stars Smash and Grab mode is by far my favorite mode!
This guide will follow a similar format to SparkyIsLife’s Heist guide. (I actually had the idea to write this before his got posted… oh well.)
Smash and Grab is the mode similar to Bounty but also different in some ways. You can read about it at here.
This list is based PURELY on my opinion. Please do NOT spam the comment section saying something like “Nita sux y u put it on s teir?” If you have differing opinions, please state them and make quality comments instead of acting like a 7 year old. Thank you for reading this short PSA.
Best Brawlers for Brawl Stars Smash and Grab Mode
Brawl Stars Smash and Grab is a fun gamemode in my opinion because unlike Heist, you get to play offense and defense. Then there’s the thrill of killing somebody with 16 diamonds and making it out alive.
The point is, to be successful in Smash and Grab, you must have a well-rounded character and a well-rounded strategy.
So, of course, not all characters are created equal.
A Tier:
B Tier:
C Tier:
D Tier:
S Tier
The S Tier for Smash and Grab consists of two of the tankiest characters in the game, El Primo and Bull. Nita makes it here on the list because of her strong short-ranged attack and her super, which spawns a bear with moderate HP.
All of these characters can use the element of surprise by hiding in bushes and killing whoever walks by. Their supers all allow for a quick escape, essential if you’ve just killed the guy with 12 diamonds and are cornered on the enemy’s side with low HP. What’s more, El Primo and Nita are common and easy to unlock if you haven’t already.
El Primo: A monster tank with 1300 HP, the most of any character in the game. If you find yourself in range of his fists, it’s GG for you. His super can break walls, not really important in this gamemode, but great for a quick escape if cornered.
Bull: I don’t have him yet, but I’ve played against him enough times to hate him. He has a short range, but similar to El Primo, if he gets too close to you, say your prayers. His super tramples over everything in his path and goes pretty far (if you know what I mean).
Nita: I have to say I love the bear mechanic. She barely made it on the S tier but I think she’s good enough to be. She’s not as threatening as the other two if you get in range of her, but her attack is pretty strong. Furthermore, she spawns a bear that is basically a mini El Primo. The bear is great for defending the diamond mine at the center once your team controls it because of the recent buff.
A Tier
The A Tier consists of weaker, less-rounded glass cannons. Is it a coincidence that both of the legendaries are on this list? I think not.
These characters are almost as good as the characters in the S Tier, but don’t make it because they are simply outshadowed. These characters are all great, Crow and Spike aren’t legendary for no reason, and Jessie is my favorite character in the game. All of these characters have ranged attacks but are squishier, so make sure that you don’t get surprised by an El Primo behind you.
Jessie: The odd one out of this group, Jessie is a high damage glass cannon. She is great for sniping the enemy team behind a tank. Unfortunately, her attack is straight, so there really is no point in standing behind a wall. The main reason for her being on the A Tier is the recent buff to her super. The cannon she makes no longer has health decay, which means you can have your team camp at the diamond mine with the cannon protecting you.
Crow: He looks really cool. His regular attack is like Shelly’s and his super is like El Primo’s. He’s a very well-rounded character, however, nearly impossible to obtain for f2p players due to his legendary status. However, his blades are poisonous, which makes him a viable choice. I don’t know much about him as I’ve never played as him or against him.
Spike: This adorable cactus is very similar to Crow but slightly tankier and less of an offensive threat. His needles expand so he is a viable choice for shooting around walls. His super does a lot of damage, however. Other than that, he is very similar to Crow.
B Tier
First off, Mortis and Poco are great options and really shouldn’t be B Tier. However, there was simply not enough space for them on higher tiers because I am OCD and have to keep all the tiers with the same amount of brawlers.
Anyway, the B Tier consists of Mortis and Poco, both great choices, and Bo… (sorry). The reason Bo isn’t so good in Smash and Grab is because his arrows go in a straight line, and Smash and Grab is usually set in a smaller arena with more walls.
Mortis and Poco are both great choices but simply overshadowed by better brawlers.
Bo: A great choice for Showdown but not so good for everything else. Sure, he shoots three arrows, but they don’t deviate from each other very much, causing him not to be very good for shooting around corners. The reason he is B tier and not C or D is because of his super, which you can use to set traps around the diamond mine.
Mortis: Amazing character but hard to unlock. He moves quickly, which is essential for getting quick escapes on Smash and Grab. He has a medium amount of health and an OK attack, but his speed and agility to dash are what makes him good. What’s more, his super heals himself which keeps him alive longer to get out of that tricky situation.
Poco: He does mediocre damage and has OK health. But his super is what really counts – He heals himself and teammates. However, it is usually best not to use him in Smash and Grab simply because he is too squishy.
C Tier
It’s interesting that two of the C Tier brawlers in Smash and Grab are also S Tier in Heist.
Dynamike and Barley are both great brawlers that server similar purposes – ranged attacks that go over walls. However, they are simply not very good in Smash and Grab where you have to get up close and personal with the enemy team.
Shelly is a good and well-rounded character but simply outshone by other characters.
Dynamike: His dynamite does a lot of damage but is simply too slow and too inaccurate. If somebody is chasing you then chances are, they’re gonna win. But outside of that, Dynamike is great in other modes where stealth and range are the key.
Barley: The only rare card that I have so far. Extremely similar to Dynamike but less consistent and has a higher range. However, it is hard to hit enemies with.
Shelly: The first brawler that you get, Shelly is a well-rounded brawler, exactly what we are looking for here, right? No. Shelly may be balanced and awesome, but she is just outshone by all the other brawlers a little too much.
D Tier
You know, there’s a reason this is called the D tier and not the F tier. These cards are bad and I rarely use them in Smash and Grab, but they’re not horrible.
Brock: He’s a straight shooter. Although he does a lot of damage, straight shooters aren’t really good in Smash and Grab due to all the walls. He’s also too squishy.
Colt: From the beginning I didn’t like Colt because he was hard to use. Also a straight shooter, Colt has more HP but less damage than Brock.
Ricochet: His shots can bounce off walls, which makes him great in theory, however, he is just too squishy for this mode because you have to get close to your opponent in order to collect diamonds.
Best Tips for Brawl Stars Smash and Grab
Know your map. There are several different maps for Smash and Grab, but they all have the diamond mine in the center.
Control the center. Just like chess, controlling the center leads to victory. Jessie and Nita are the best at doing this because they can control the center remotely.
Teamwork. This may sound obvious but work together with your team! If you’re a ranged shooter, you might consider standing behind El Primo, etc.
Split your diamonds. Don’t take all the diamonds because if you die, you lose all of them.
Know when to play defense. If you have 20 diamonds, you should probably go hide in the grass.
That is it for now everyone and I hope you enjoyed my 1,562 (longer than SIL’s) word guide!
I hope to see you in game!
Maybe even join my band, Toronto 2.1. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) That’s not it for now because I am already working on another guide…(it’s on Bounty because somebody else already took Showdown)
