Right now, Showdown is a very unforgiving game mode because it’s not exactly based on skills. This means using the best brawlers, camping in bushes is the only way you can survive (but there are exceptions of course). There are a lot of brawlers which can be used for duo showdown, so here are the brawlers you want to avoid:
- Jessie
- Tick
- Nita
- Dyna
- Shelly
- Colt
- Rico
- Barley
- Bull
- Poco

Duo Showdown Brawl Stars Characters
Some really good brawlers in Duo SD
- Crow
- Darryl
- Gene
- Max
- Bea
Anyways if you are a low Dps brawler like a Poco or Bea, don’t go hunting for boxes on your own because its gonna take forever to break them. Combine your Dps with your teammate to break the box in 3 ammo! If you do the otherwise, most of the time the other will bully you and get the box for themselves and make you vulnerable.
- Stick together, but not too close, this is because often people will be hiding in the bushes which will make it easy for them to ambush you out of nowhere. (4–7 tiles). This will make it so that you have more combined power so that even if you are ambushed, your teammate can survive and be alive.
You could also use other brawlers who can escape from a place and without dying. (E.g. Crow, el Primo, Darryl, Mortis, Carl)
Don’t try to team wipe them even if you have a splash damage brawler. And mainly, don’t try that even if you have a power cube advantage. The only exception is if you are sure you can kill them both in 15 seconds.
If you don’t have any power cubes, you either try to go after a similar team or just camp till showdown or ambush someone if they are low of health.
If you get pinched by two or more teams, select a team to push forward on(cuz if u don’t, you would sandwiched in the middle), even if it means sacrificing your health or super. Move forward onto the more vulnerable team.
Make good decisions based on your brawler and situation. For example, if you are a 1 power cube Darryl and you see a 20 power cube Dynamike or Barley whom you can super on, and 3 power cubes to the right of you, don’t pick up the 3 power cubes and sacrifice the kill of the throwers!
The Barley or Dynamike can easily kill you if you are not close by! Darryl can 3 shot any brawler below 10000 health, and the knockback will allow you to make them waste their shots.
If your teammate has died, play very passively, because the moment you die, your whole team is eliminated. People often rush the other fully prepared team when they have a huge cube advantage even though their partner has died! Always remember that 1 is greater than 2 despite the powercubes. Try to charge your super when your teammate is dead.

Heist PRO Tips For All Brawl Stars Characters
Before you start the match, pick a lane you know you have a good matchup against.
Before you start the match, check what brawlers the other team has and play accordingly. Switch lanes with your teammates according to the brawler they use in your lanes.
If there are all the three brawlers on your safe and you are the only one there who just got respawned, Always try to defend no matter what because three brawlers are greater than two, and first of all, you can’t even get out of spawn with three brawlers surrounding you.
So, if you have a high Dps brawler, meaning enough damage to take out the key DPS brawlers on your safe in 3 shots. The typical brawlers who can do this the best are:
- Shelly
- Spike
- Bull
- Darryl
- Rico
- Colt
- 8-bit
- JessieÂ
- NitaÂ
- PennyÂ
Exceptions:
If you are a brawler with a turret , first try to charge up your super and get ready to reck the team with the turret and your gadget especially with Jessie, she can use her gadget to kill the whole team because it can slow the entire team
Use good brawlers:
Always get a good look at the maps first, then decide what to use. Some General Tips:
- On maps with a lot of grass-like a hot potato, pick Bo with the first-star power or Shelly with her first.
- On maps with walls, pick either Barley, Dyna or Tick, depending on skill level or power level( not always).
- On maps with closed quarter like hot potato, play Rico or Colt because you can possibly miss your shot even if you auto-aim.
- On other maps where there are quite fewer bushes, play Colt, 8-bit, Rico, Spike, Brock (depends), Max, Nita, Emz, Bull, Darryl.Â
Pick your targets and please don’t auto-aim especially because of there a lot of walls. I will explain this situation. If you are a long-range brawler like a Brock or Piper, you definitely have to aim. If you are a mid-range brawler like a Colt or Rico, you want to aim because if not then you are going to miss your valuable supers.
When you are in the proximity of two targets you want to aim to choose your target. This applies to all tanks, especially with El Primo, Bibi, and Frank, or else you are gonna get juked by the enemy team very hard) and is especially applicable when you have Max on the enemy team or the team in which you want to aim.
This applies to tanks, especially with el Primo, Bibi, and Frank, or else people are gonna juke you at close range). This is why I practice close range aiming.
How to practice manual aiming at close range:
Use the Friendlies room, get a max on your team and also the enemy team. As your brawlers use a tanky short-range brawler like Primo, Bull or Frank. Ask the enemy Max to circle around and auto-aim while you much try to juke as much as possible and get close. If you can kill the max before she kills you you are probably good to go.
If you have only one target close to you, you wanna auto-aim.
When there are two brawlers or more in an 8-bit damage booster, always take the damage booster out first. This is a very important thing to do, I have seen many people get rekted when they directly duo two people when they are inside the damage booster. It gives 30% damage boost, obviously, you would get destroyed.
Know when to ignore a brawler on your safe. These brawlers you should not ignore on your safe:
- Colt
- Rico
- Pam
- Max
- El Primo
- Bull
- Darryl
- Incendiary Brock
- Nita’s bear (Bruce)
- Penny turret
- Jessie Turret
- Rosa
- Frank
- Spike
- Bibi
- Shelly
- Emz
- 8-bit
Barley and Dynamike are special cases. In case if two of your teammates are defending, pinch the thrower if alone, otherwise ignore.
Always understand and know when to fall back. When the enemy bubble appears you want to fall back as a tank, except when you know your team can finish it within 1 of your ammo. Surviving>Dying and landing one more shot.
Does not apply to long-range.

Bounty PRO Tips For All Brawl Stars Characters
- Don’t die, even if it means you are going to get a kill.
- Pressure the enemy. Pick a good lane matchup.
- When you are in the lead, don’t try and risk more kills.
- When you are not in the lead, don’t 1v3 the enemy team. Push together, secure the number of kills needed to regain the lead, then fall back to a safe position.
Right now there are only 5-6 brawlers good in the bounty:
- Piper
- Bea
- Penny (balls of fire)
- Brock with 4 rockets
- Gene
- Bo (snake Prairie)
- Tick
Oh yeah, and with gene always auto-aim your super. It will hit no matter what.
When all of your teammates are low on ammo, don’t bunch up together and all get hit by the tick head
Gem Grab
Pick either a good support, a good gem carrier or a good aggro.
Good aggros
- Rosa
- Darryl
Yeah, that’s basically it.
Decent aggros
- Bull (Worse Darryl)
- Primo (too short range)
- Frank (Cannot move)
- Bibi (gets rekt by Darryl, and too low health)
- Mortis (In fact really good if you are good with him, but I don’t think there are many good Mortis out there)
- Nita
Good gem carriers
- Gene
- Sandy
- Penny (balls of fire)
- Tara (edit)
Yeah, that’s basically it.
Decent gem carriers
- Poco
- Emz
- Bo (grassy maps)
- Piper (maps with a lot of small patches of grass)
- good supports
- Carl Mr. P Max
Yeah, that’s basically it.
Decent supports
- Barley/tick (Depends on map)
- Rico (Swirling storm and hard rock mine)
- and any other good brawlers on the map
What to do:
With aggros, you mainly just use your presence to create space for your teammates and use your HP to soak up some shots to push forward. Then just stand menacingly behind a wall slightly ahead of the gem mine, and kill those who come near.
The reason why Darryl and Rosa are so good is because Darryl has an auto charging super which enables him to kill enemies much farther away from his wall, and Rosa with the shield on can tank a full team on her at once, and she has a stupidly long range.
With support, you basically deal long-range damage, and weaken/kill the enemy team from afar.
With gem carrier, you pick up all the gems. and support your teammates the way a support would. The only difference is that you don’t take risks at all
Gem carrier/ Support can be interchangeable roles
At the enemy team countdown, don’t 1v3 the entire enemy team. (unless you are rosa with shield up)
Wait for your teammates to respawn and then push.
Oh yeah, and also don’t think that countdown = win.
Shelly and Darryl
Shelly only has 5k hp, which is pretty much average, she has a different move speed than all of the tanks and has a long-range (not a very long effective range but that is beside the point).
Her super is only good against tanks, while tanks have supers built to counter non-tanks or give them extra mobility.
Darryl’s 90% shield is an issue, however, it is not a good idea to use your super before Darryl finishes his roll anyway. You want to ensure that the Darryl is at point-blank so your super can deal max damage.
The timing of your super does not effect if the roll connects or not. (Darryl’s super is better against a brawler with a long, drawn out shot like Colt or Rico because they have to shoot at him the second he rolls).
Showdown Shelly
Also, showdown is Shelly’s best mode, followed by brawl ball. This is mostly due to the fact that a lot of people bushcamp at high trophies, bandaid is useful there, and due to the nature of the poison.
The poison closes in as the match goes on, so in the late game, enemies will have no room to escape her super, and just about everyone makes it to late game at high trophies.
Showdown maps have always been good for her. Lots of bushes and walls, as well as she is good at destroying boxes and stealing powercubes.
Shelly is very weak to teamers, but so is just about everyone else. (While you won’t be banned for teaming, teaming makes you a GIANT idiot so don’t do that).
Also, I was under the impression that you want people to use her in the heist. Don’t ever do that, she is too slow and has no supers that let her get to the safe.
She is good against tanks but other brawlers (Nita, Brock, Jessie, throwers, etc) will be on just about every enemy team so they can easily kill her or attack the safe at range)
Shelly’s spot in the meta
You are correct, she sadly is not in a good spot in the meta right now. She is arguably the worst brawler in the game and there are brawlers that can do her job better in just about every game mode.
Nevertheless, everyone has her and if you are pushing trophies you will inevitably have to push her in order to succeed. When you do that, you should push her in her best game mode, showdown or in BB. Whatever you prefer
I am close to 20k and have pushed my Shelly to about 985, I am very experienced with her.

SHELLY
Shelly here alright, for Shelly you want to make sure that you get as close as possible mid-range damage exists when it’s low. So do anything you can’t get close okay so don’t super from a distance right but super from the minimum distance, when you want to get close be sneaky use the grass to do so. A Shelly super is scary but only when it’s in your face that is right.
NITA
Nita then all right, with Nita you only want to use your bear when you can work with it whether it’s a hyper bear on the safe or heeling bear, in general, you can get double or triple the value if you help your bear stay alive long longer. So don’t throw at it at the feet of the enemy Brawler. Right now that will be a bad thing, don’t throw it at the feet at the enemy brawler.
COLT
Let’s move on to Colt. Oh right for Colt you want to make sure that you’re assessing the juking patterns for each individual enemy to increase your chances of following through, to do this make sure that you stay alive to keep your distance, have a longer period of time to assess the enemy and you’re making sure that you’re having a consistent and persistent impact on the field.
Most people only have one pattern for dodging guys so if you can learn what their pattern is you can crush them.
BULL
Bull all right so for bull when I think of both the first note I think of is heist and when it comes to heist you want to make sure that you’re being aggressive with Bull.
Force them to play defensively by bypassing the enemy the best offense is a defense is a good offence. What’s more important damage on the safe we’re staying alive close to
the safe is Bull you want to make sure you’re staying alive. Stay alive so that they have to focus greater attention towards eliminating you.
JESSIE
Next, we’ve got Jessie and by Jessie you mean scrappy since everyone knows that it’s scrappy that carries this deal but what Jessie does do though is place that turret down strategically.
She can place it down in behind walls against ranged brawlers or against melee threats. She can put it out in the open you want to be creative no one likes a dead mechanical dog so keep scrappy alive.
BROCK
Brock, you want to make sure that you’re not rushing it. Brock’s cool he’s chill take it slow because of Brock’s slower reload you want to make sure you’re mindful of each in every shot.
Don’t rush this super as well you want to make sure that you use it well, it’s one of the few wall breaks in the game and it’s presents its potential damage that it represents can be quite intimidating.
DYNAMIKE
Dynamike with dynamite you want to make sure that you’re pairing your shot so that at least one of them lands one shot can lead to the predictability of eat out of the other.
So make sure that you’re pairing them up as a thrower stay behind those walls and fire away okay so what I am saying is two attacks at a time which is actually four Dynamite’s yeah oh man math is hard.
BO
Bo be strong as the mountains strong as the Bo. Yes as Bo you want to make sure that you are always aware of the greater picture he is not simply to understanding how to use the blinds or extend vision can be beneficial to the team it is really important. The other thing you want to make sure you’re mindful of are the complexity of his shots that’s just a bonus tip left word and well play tip for everyone.
TICK
We’ve got Tick. All right four tick take shots once at a time you can completely lock down a pathway if you sporadically use your ammunition so do just that spamming will make it. So that you’re actually vulnerable and for those instances that you are vulnerable you want to make sure that you’re saving your super that head is great against tanks.
8 BIT
Next, we got 8-bit all right so he has really respectable DPS and speed has shot but as everyone knows he is really slow. So with 8-bit you want to make sure that you are aware of your surroundings since every other brawler can catch up to you pretty quickly.
Keep an eye out for anyone starting to get close because you’ll need to react quicker than if you were another brawler you throw it a rock pop over here, he’s slow so you gotta react quick.
EMZ
So next we got Emz alright. So with Emz, you want to make sure you find that sweet spot. She’s a perfect mid-range option so keeping at mid-range is astronomically better than anything else. Keep the distance from brawlers and conserve shots for burst damage to destroy tanks and completely obliterate squishies.
EL PRIMO
For El Primo, you want to make sure you’re cycling you’re super with this very short-range. It is often tough to actually load up a super so once you do you want to make sure that it’s impactful, you want to make sure that you’re waiting for that opportune moment.
BARLEY
Up next we got Barley. All right with Barley, you want to make sure that you’re staying alive and safe. You can provide a lot of area control but only if you’re alive to do so. So while staying alive focus on your strengths, turrets, low health enemies, ranged opponents it will reduce their impact increase your own and will make your teammates live longer and easier.
POCO
So let’s talk about Poco’s best tip. Then okay for Poco I would say that you have an easy to land shot so it actually allows you to focus greater attention towards other areas. So focus on juking focus on positioning and on the greater picture you’re a support brawler at its finest so you want to make sure that you’re where you are aware of your teammates matchups that’s where the attention should be focused.
ROSA
Rosa, all right for Rosa the question is super or no super. Rosa super is harder to charge than it once used to be so you want to make sure you’re really getting value out of it. It’s extremely valuable so you want to question when you’re about to use it do. You really need the sweeper for the situation could be enemy flee from my fists and would it mean that this super is actually wasted, so make sure you’re using it at the right time.
RICO
Super rare brawler starting off with Ricochet, well with Rico you want to make sure that you are ricocheting though shots it gives you extra distance with one star power, it gives you extra damage and actually allows you to access the enemy while you yourself are less accessible. While this happens though you want to make sure that you keep them find that a single ball can only damage an enemy once even if it bounces off a wall and hits them again.
DARRYL
Okay up next let’s talk about Darryl. Alright so for Darryl be patient you have an autoloading super which distinguishes you from pretty much every other brother in the game so capitalize upon it and then once you get that super you want to make sure that your lanny cataract hit on an enemy as it will allow you to get more damage on them and stun them.
PENNY
Talking about Penny, then all right with Penny she actually has a turret which if you didn’t know which allows for self pinching. Basically her turret makes the enemy movements were predictable which allows you to aim where the turret full. So the enemy gets hit by something no matter where they go especially with the balls of fire start power don’t play against portal guys don’t do it.
CARL
But let’s go ahead and move on to Carl. All right with Carl, you want to make sure that you don’t panic with auto-aim and try to get a rebound off a wall whenever possible.
It makes a big difference with overall reload time, you also want to make sure that you don’t panic with your super it could be easy to freak out and use it when you’re low health and it can often be better used if you use it as a persistent threat to deter enemy aggression flash that super guys just expose it to the world stay wait for me I’m flashing my super at you.
PIPER
Okay, so we are now onto the epic brawler starting off with Piper. Alright for Piper, you know what’s scarier than a Piper shooting at you a Piper Shelly supering right in the face pounding the boys.
I don’t think any big dogs that what’s scarier than a Piper shooting at you though that’s not a Shelly is a Piper not shooting at you because you know she at least has three shots banked up with a potential of one of them hitting you.
So save your ammunition so you can take aim and land those shots when they really matter.
PAM
Okay let’s talk about Pam, then alright with Pam unless you’re in the enemy’s face you want to make sure that your man gets a feel for her shots to really optimize on how many bullets land even at max range.
If your targets are directly in the middle after shot five out of nine of them will land yeah you want to attack like she’s Colt yes that’s faith that’s how you maximize damage with her but she’s got the additional stuff on the sides to help too so not the best aim not right for taking anybody in specific.
FRANK
Let’s move on here, let’s talk about Frank. All right with Frank, you want to make sure that you’re holding it that super, you can control area and enemy movement without even using your super in many cases don’t risk missing it.
If you can take flow and wait for that right opportunity what holding your super make sure that you’re avoiding the stunners because no one gonna be scared of you then yes and please stop breaking the walls guys if you’re Frank. Keep the walls up, keep the walls in the bush up, you just you’re gonna struggle they came without it sick of Frank’s breaking their walls.
BIBI
Okay BiBi alright a little bit of a pro tip for BB is that when it comes to those 1v1Â matchups you want to make sure that you aim to get double bounce with her bubble with their supers length. You have a lot of great opportunities and angles for it so make sure to do so as landing two hits with their bubble means you only need two swings to load her super rather than three.
BEA
Let’s go ahead and talk about Bea. Now okay for Bea once you have that charge shot you want to make sure that you hold onto it until you know you can land it. Nobody wants to be hit by 3,000 damage, so don’t miss the shot for 3,000 damage and it’s like a Shelly super in the face from 9 tiles away exactly it’s like you don’t want to miss it the presence of it is awesome good so make sure you keep it.
MORTIS
Okay, let’s go ahead and talk about Mortis now all right for Mortis you want to make sure that you know your matchups Mortis is one of those brawlers that can easily be countered but could also easily counter others low health and low damage enemies are your fuel whereas high health and high damage enemies art or demise so even though you’re focusing that matchup make sure that when in a 1v1 you can also line you’re super to hit another target so you get even more heal.
TARA
Okay, cool now let’s talk about Tara. Tara there I said both of them so I can’t defend anybody this time, wait for Tara it’s all about her. Tara sorry if you want to make sure that you landed she is balanced for cycling so cycle on some occasions you’ll find that yourself getting close to super.
This can actually be a really good opportunity to surprise the enemy by suddenly having your super and pulling them in but do that when you have three shots of ammo, yeah you don’t want to just like do it when you don’t have like throw out your last shot of ammo you charged it through your throw your super and you’re like right now
GENE
Okay let’s move on here, let’s talk about Gene. Alright like Tara, Genes impact is defined by its super so hold that super its presence puts persistent limitations on the opposition’s movements due to the threat it represents when you do use it know when and when not to auto it.
MAX
Let’s go ahead and move on with Max. Alright with Max you want to take things slow. What I’m doing something wrong the Max you want to make sure that you take things slow, be patient your first instinct with extra speed may to be maybe to rush the enemy as fast as possible but if you’re smart you’ll know that you have four full seconds and in that time you can dodge the first few shots as your enemies panic and then capitalize upon their ammunition deficiency to take them out.
MR.P
Next up we got Mr. P alright for Mr. P or Mr. annoying you want to make sure that you’re just that you are annoying everything about Mr. P is annoying just be annoying with it if being annoying isn’t annoying enough then you want to make sure you make up for it by being annoying with mister.
SPIKE
Okay, so we’re moving to the legendary brawler’s. Now let’s start off with Spike, okay for Spike you want to make sure that you’ve got your opponent aw spike super can actually force an enemy into the open and an enemy will almost always try to exit a spike super through the shortest path, so make that path one that you have access to so that would your main attack so that you can damage that brawler.
CROW
Okay now, let’s talk about Crow. Alright with Crow you want to make sure that you spread out the love. You spread that poison out all over the place whenever possible as poisoning more than one enemy can be really beneficial to helping out your teammates with 4 seconds of damage after contact it ends up being 7 seconds until the enemy can actually start healing that gives you time to quickly damage your matchup damage another brawler and then continue whittling your deck your matchup away spread that love.
LEON
Okay, next up we got Leon with Leon you want to understand that he is a grass lizard operating from the grass gives the enemy less of a clue as to when you’re going to go invisible when you do if you can’t quite access an isolated enemy brawler then what you could do is actually finish your super within a grass pile to then startle the enemy and take them by surprise later.
SANDY
Hey and then last up the last legendary brawler in the last brawler Sandy last but not least Sandy you want to make sure that you master his super.
The biggest mistake I see is wasting a portion of the super when that person our brawler can throw it forward so throw it up it flushes out the enemy it increases area control and leaves the overall ground and tempo gained when you super you can also connect grasses this way if you pull it off correctly your location can still be unknown once that super subsides okay awesome.
